'Young Scientist' at the World Economic Forum

The Wellcome Trust have nominated Dr Rebeccah Slater to The World Economic Forum to be elected as a 'Young Scientist', which includes attendance at the 2017 World Economic Forum Annual Meeting of the New Champions.  

Each year, the World Economic Forum selects 50 extraordinary scientists under the age of 40 to participate alongside business and political leaders in the Annual Meeting of the New Champions. These scientists are selected from all regions of the world and from a wide range of disciplines to bring value to the meeting by contributing their perspective on the latest trends from various fields of science.

 

The Young Scientists community offers members the opportunity to exchange and collaborate with outstanding researchers throughout the year.

This year Dr Slater has been invited as a Young Scientist to the Annual Meeting of the New Champions 2017, which will take place on 27-29 June in Dalian, People’s Republic of China. 

 

The Young Scientists community brings together the most forward-thinking and advanced young scientific minds in the world. They are selected from all regions and a wide range of disciplines, and have a track record of advancing the frontiers of science, technology and environment in areas of high societal impact.

In their work, they exhibit exceptional creativity, thought leadership and high growth potential. Under the age of 40, these individuals have demonstrated their commitment to public service and actively play a transformational role in integrating scientific knowledge into society for the public good.The Young Scientists are honoured for their contributions to advancing the frontiers of science, engineering and technology, and benefit from a tailored programme that expose them to policy leaders, decision-makers and entrepreneurs.
