Simon Marchant
Postdoctoral Researcher
Simon started his postdoctoral research in the paediatric neuroimaging group in 2024, where he designs new methods for analysing electroencephalography (EEG) from infant brains. His DPhil (submitted) has so far resulted in a first-author publication (doi.org/10.1088/1741-2552/ad5c04) and a patent (WO 2023084208A).
Previously he worked as a clinical scientist in the NHS, providing combined technical and clinical support to neurological and orthopaedic rehabilitation units. He studied an integrated Masters (MEng) in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Sheffield and a Masters (MSc) in Clinical Science at King's College London. He is a Chartered Engineer and a registered Clinical Scientist in the UK.
His work is funded by a postdoctoral research grant from the National Institute of Health Research, and in 2023 he won the Institute of Engineering & Technology's Postgraduate Research Award.
